CDCS EdgeAcademy

About the academy

65+ years at the documentary credit desk, turned into a curriculum.

We are practitioners first. Everything we teach comes from transactions we have structured, documents we have examined, and refusals we have had to defend.

Our mission

We make complex LC concepts simple, practical, and exam-focused.

CDCS Edge Academy is a specialist training institute for finance and trade professionals preparing for the Certified Documentary Credit Specialist certification.

We are led by a group of industry experts with decades of experience in international trade finance, banking, and documentary credits. Between us we bring 65+ years of collective experience, and every example we teach from is one of us has handled.

Our mission is straightforward: give professionals the edge they need to pass CDCS on the first attempt, and to be better at the work afterwards.

How we work

Four commitments we don't trade away.

  • Practitioner-led, always

Everything we teach is taught by someone who has done it under commercial pressure, with a bank on the other end of the phone. Theory without that grounding produces candidates who can recite articles and still fail case studies.

  • Grounded in the rulebooks

UCP 600, ISBP 821, URC 522, URDG 758, ISP98 and Incoterms® 2020. Every answer we give traces back to a specific provision — never to habit or house practice.

  • Honest about fit

If you are not ready to sit the exam this cycle, we will say so. If an advisory engagement isn't worth your money, we will say that too. Reputation in trade finance is a small, long-memoried market.

  • Useful after the exam

A pass is the outcome, not the point. We teach the rules the way you will need to apply them at the desk on the Monday after the certificate arrives.

Talk to someone who has actually sat on the other side of the counter.

A short conversation is usually enough to tell whether we're the right fit — for the certification, for an advisory engagement, or for neither.

Typically replies the same working day.
